Palmo Quero (Café Regenbogen) got the permission to use this square (Rosenhof) for the Zurichfest. His team helped set up everything to make this a legendary event for years to come. It was revolutionary in the sense that most people at the time had never seen or experienced a large dance party like this.

At this event I introduced the brand new song “Gypsy Woman” (La Da Dee) by Crystal Waters . It became an Anthem of the Rosenhof square in one night and I ended up playing it 8 times since the people could sing along “La Da Dee, La Da Da” without knowing the lyrics!

I ended up playing at this legendary event in 1991, 1994, 1998, 2001 and 2013.

BOXTANZ REITHALLE ZURICH 1992:

Juerg Leimbacher who at the time was also running an underground illegal club called Parfuemerie organized a dance event with a box fight in the Reithalle, Zurich in 1992 and asked me if I would DJ. It was a first of it’s kind and I had the best view!

Keep in Mind: All the events listed above were held before the first Street Parade in Zurich (1992) and before the Zurich Club Kaufleuten opened.

NEW YEARS EVE KAUFLEUTEN CLUB 1995-1996:

DJ’S Lou Lamar & Oliver Stumm, New Years Eve, Kaufleuten 1995-1996

Fredi Mueller called me and asked me to DJ on New Years Eve at his Kaufleuten Club in Zurich. I respectfully declined since I lived in NY, hadn’t planned on going to Zurich and had some production deadlines. But when Fredi has a plan he usually gets what he wants. He called me again and offered me a Concorde flight to save me time. I had to laugh and told Fredi “After landing in Paris I still need a connection flight. Overall it would only save me 3 hours. But it was important to him so I agreed to do it (on a regular flight). Fredi organized the event meticulously with the help of Yves Spink, Urs Muellheer & Co. They even had indoor fireworks. When midnight came around after the countdown Fredi imagined the music would go off with a bang. But that’s not what I had planned. (I always hated the obvious). I played Strauss’ waltz music and Fredi was visibly disappointed – until about 5 minutes later when I said “Fredi look up! Look at the dance floor!” Everybody was dancing waltz! I turned the club into a maginficent ballroom! I continued with more Strauss’ waltz music for 30 minutes before going into modern dance music. Fredi wanted something iconic. That’s what I prepared for him! The party was a blast with style!

KATAKOMBE CLUB (NOW CALLED HIVE CLUB) AROUND 1995:

SWISS NATIONAL TV SHOW “BENISSIMO” 1998:

In 1998 for the Release of my album H2O “You Can Run…” Sony Music made me perform on the Swiss National Live TV Show “Benissimo” with my singer and break dancers. The legendary moderator Beni Thurnheer interviewed me. After the show my singer asked me when they were going to air it. I laughed and said didn’t you understand why we had to rehearse? This was a live TV broadcast!
